Bundle up and head to Sir Winston Churchill Square and the City Hall Plaza for Bright Light Skate Night!
Don’t have skates? No problem! Free skate rentals will be available, along with skate aids (weather and ice conditions permitting).
There’s holiday magic for everyone!
Capture memories at the outdoor photo booth, enjoy the roving Glow Fairy and hula hoops, and watch skilled ice carvers create stunning sculptures.
Join in the large space games or get creative at our craft stations, and help decorate the community tree inside City Hall.
At 5 pm, join the Honourable Mayor Sohi in counting down to the official lighting of the Christmas Tree and watch as the City Hall skating rink comes alive with lights. A White Spruce tree on the west side of Sir Winston Churchill Square will be lit again this year in support of the City’s sustainability goals.
Other things to do at the neighbouring Arts District venues:
Drop in for a free pop-up performance from the Jivin’ Belles in the Citadel lobby at 4 pm.
Experience a showing of A Christmas Carol (purchased tickets required) at the Citadel Theatre with showtimes at 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
Purchase tickets for Handel’s Messiah at the Winspear Centre.
Visit the Stanley A. Milner Library for some holiday tree arts and crafts from 4-6 pm.
Downtown Edmonton continues to transform, building a better and more family-friendly gathering place for citizens and visitors. Sir Winston Churchill Square (affectionately referred to by Edmontonians as “the Square”) and City Hall Plaza form the core downtown festival and celebration space in central Edmonton.
We hope to see you in the Square!
Brought to you by the City of Edmonton and Arts District Edmonton.
